Oi! We'll have no Pontiff here! This here's an Anglican Nation!!1!

p.s. We no longer use limes. 'Orangeys' or 'Strawberreys' would be better. Yeah, call us 'Strawbs'!

"Pontificatin'? I'nt that when the Pope takes a squat?"
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."

I forgot about this silly exchange, 'til a kudos got me back here.

Listen, you clearly missed my point that claiming to know Southern culture because you've been to Arizona, which is in the southwest, is equivocating the cultural and the geographical sense of the phrase "the American South". And as I said above, that points up your ignorance.

You cannot even remember the city, and you expect your critique to carry weight?

I'm sure you've brought sunshine and daisies to your neighbors. Give them my sympathies.

You're just mad because you got caught thinking one dimensionally again. I did not say "the American South" as being the same as Arizona, just Arizona being part of the southern (notice the lack of capitalization) regions of the United States because it is.....even a battle your ancestors fought against the Union was staged their. Now saying many people from Arizona are in the same league as the Southern states is doing the South a disservice as the laws Arizona passed against minorities haven't been passed to such an extent in the Southern states in decades....sure they try and pass restrictive laws, but nothing like Arizona or even Montana (another Red state).

I did bring much sunshine to my neighbors. Most people (atheists and theists alike) love me for some reason. I don't know why, but they do.
But if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, His Son, purifies us from all sin.

Time, distance, and shielding are effective methods of minimizing exposure to ionizing radiation. They are equally effective when dealing with religion and it's more obnoxious adherents.

Shit, I'm not mad, kid. I'm pointing at you and laughing.

You cited your experience in Arizona as giving you insight into the American South. It doesn't. Arizona is a different kettle of fish, which you'd know if you were percipient.

For your information, my ancestors got here in America between 1880 and 1910 -- except for my great-grandmother's lineage; she was fullblooded Blackfeet. Indeed, my great-uncle Georg got off the boat from Hamburg in Galveston in 1905. In 1917, he was on another ship, headed back to the old world. None of my ancestors owned slaves, at all.

In other words, you've got one more assumption punctured, even if you're not bright enough to recognize it.

Ah, so now you're confusing the geographical, political, and cultural.

Your confusion is understandable; I couldn't imagine why they'd find you appealing in the least, either. I also have to wonder if you're not perhaps misunderstanding them as badly as you have me in this thread.

eta: Just noticed you have been banned. Perhaps if you had more content and less screed you'd be able to still post?
