The Romans left in 300AD, then the Angles and Saxons arrived. Angleland became England.... The kingdom of England wasn't formed until the 10th century.
The Celts were here first, and we've complained about it first. Stupid bloody weather. >.>

You spend more time complaining about the English than you do the weather. Mind you, I spent 2 weeks camping in Wales when I was in the Scouts, and it rained, and rained, and.....

Here is something I am going to be moaning about for a long time:
West Nile Fever
I am slowly recuperating from a week of the worst muscle/joint pain and stomach cramps and headache ever. JFC, I have had the nasty E Coli twice (lucky me) and WNF is worse. My temperature ran up to 102 several times, and I could tell, as bad as I was, it was worse with the fever blazing.
What a miserable disease.
And the CDC site says most of the people bitten by infected mosquitoes go on to no symptoms. Fuck. And I just had the fever, not the encephalitis, and that is worse.

And just when they're finished, to be squashed out by a wave of Germanic immigrants? And forced to flee to the mountainous regions?
To have your royal family and all lines of succession killed off?
To have your country, Wales, annexed by England and incorporated within the English legal system, which in all intents and purposes, does not acknowledge us as a separate country until only when its convenient for them? Like when it comes to taxes, institutions, education and healthcare?
To have your language taken away? "Welsh Not" was the phrase yes? To be caught speaking our own native tongue was dealt with swiftly. Bitterly ironic considering a lot of people nowadays speak Polish in England, yet this refusal to integrate into society properly is tolerated.
To have the rural communities of Capel Celyn flooded by Liverpool City Council for drinking water.
These are the tip of the iceberg.
There is nothing "United" about the United Kingdom. Well, except our scorn and contempt for one another, that we all keep a lid on for most parts.
And the Cornish... wow... they had an even shitter deal under English rule. They're not even recognized as a separate ethnicity, let alone, a culture or nationality.

And I'm trying to build a house in this weather.
A goddamn house.

See, I said you lot complained about the English. The fact is that we're superior to the Celts, and the cold wet rocky bits are all you deserve. Just be thankful you didn't have to go and live in Ireland.....

The Welsh and the scots grind my gears with their constant complaining. You get free prescriptions and free higher education where we have to pay for both! How is that convienient for us? (Don't get me wrong, south Wales is my favourite place in the world, I've spent many happy days in merthyr).

I went to university in Bristol and there were plenty of Welsh guys there. They all had big chips on their shoulders and bad-mouthed anything English. The irony is that most of them would end up living in England...

When one group of people are prejudice against another for the actions of their ancestors.
'The more I learn about people the more I like my dog'- Mark Twain
'You can have all the faith you want in spirits, and the afterlife, and heaven and hell, but when it comes to this world, don't be an idiot. Cause you can tell me you put your faith in God to put you through the day, but when it comes time to cross the road, I know you look both ways.' - Dr House
“Young earth creationism is essentially the position that all of modern science, 90% of living scientists and 98% of living biologists, all major university biology departments, every major science journal, the American Academy of Sciences, and every major science organization in the world, are all wrong regarding the origins and development of life….but one particular tribe of uneducated, bronze aged, goat herders got it exactly right.” - Chuck Easttom
"If my good friend Doctor Gasparri speaks badly of my mother, he can expect to get punched.....You cannot provoke. You cannot insult the faith of others. You cannot make fun of the faith of others. There is a limit." - Pope Francis on freedom of speech

;-) ;-) Whoa! What? Free higher education in Wales? No sir. Only Scotland gets that deal. Don't conflate us please.
And besides, standards of living and wages are lower in Wales though.
Not to mention, nostalgia is blinding you to the fact that Merthyr is the unhealthiest place in the UK* (and the consistently ranked one of the worst places to live as well).
