It's scary really, thank God for the police and the law stopping countless Godless people from doing heinous things.
So basically it's good to follow a set line of morals so you won't go to hell!
What a wonderful reason to be a good person!

Now I know you're a poe.
As a whole, from my personal experience, I would say that atheists are generally more moral the theists.
I've encountered many theists who have stated that if there wasn't a god (in their belief) and a fear of going to hell they'd likely be out raping and murdering.
Isn't it scary that the only thing keeping many of them in check is the belief in an imaginary being and fear of eternal punishment, instead of basic decency and empathy for their fellow humans . . .

I can't speak for anyone else of course, but I don't need any kind of law enforcement agency to make me not do "heinous things". I simply don't want to do them. I'm not wired that way. I can't even process the thought of my doing such things.
Mind you, it all hinges on the definition of "heinous things". Rape, murder, slavery etc - all the things actually commanded or condoned in that evil book - I can accept those into the definition. The other stuff that this "absolute authority" thinks is more important to prohibit instead (making graven images, using banned words in vain, not setting aside a special magic day) not so much.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist. This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair. Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second. That means there's a situation vacant.'
