The existence of "Ghosts" means...

RE: The existence of "Ghosts" means...
ChristW, everything's possible, but extremely unlikely based on evidence so far.
#6. Brain neuron glitches
#7 software glitch from the virtual reality world we live in
#8 more than one of the above

That about covers it.

Unless we can study a sample(s), that's about the end of the line for me.
They are unfalsifiable ...fun to talk about whatif's, but that's about it.

After reading the Fermi paradox, I've stopped believing in et's ever having been here.
Although there's plenty of good stuff on YouTube, I take it all with a sack of salt.
Even the church sponsored ID videos sound logical to the untrained mind.

The premises are based on a knowledge of the nature of ghosts-- which you couldn't have. Therefore, they are either simply false or they beg the question.

Actually it is called INDUCTIVE argument compared to DEDUCTIVE argument(which requires 100% proof or evidence).

We do not have all the data, like in a Lab, to determine something TRUTH-preserving which is a characteristic of DEDUCTIVE reasoning.

Therefore, INDUCTIVE argument or reasoning is what we have to use to get to at least a STRONG Inductive argument or reasoning. If it contains true premises then it could be COGENT.

Let's use Disjunctive Syllogism ...

1) Either "ghosts" derive from another unknown phenomena OR "ghosts" are from previous dead people.
2) Not derived from dead people.
3) Therefore "ghosts" derive from another unknown phenomena.

Let's use Modus Ponens ...

"""1. If there are "ghosts" from previous living human beings, then the world would be filled(infested) with "ghosts".
2. All living human beings on Earth are NOT all haunted by their past relatives.
3. There are no ghosts!"""

Rewritten:

1) If there are NO ghosts from previous living human beings, then there are NO ghosts.
2) All Human beings on Earth are not 'haunted' by All previous human beings.
3) Therefore, there are NO Ghosts.

Note: There is no need to know the functions, nature and substances of "ghosts"(This sounds like Rene Descartes argument?!) to know some truth concerning the phenomena! You simply have to know the absence of interaction with the living to understand this. For example, NOT ALL LIVING BEINGS ARE HAUNTED BY THEIR PAST RELATIVES!

Ad Hominem, man you are desperate and silly. Just to let you know, when I sleep I laugh at my enemies.

1. Not an ad hom.
2. "Your title fits you. If you had any scientific background and took philosophy you could simply observe my posts as postulates to an hypothesis." Many people have both these things, including me, and my only valid and testable hypothesis is that you're cray.
3. When you go to sleep make sure you set up your PKE meters to scan for anything strange in yo' neighbourhood.
4. There are no such things as ghosts.

Let me play devils advocate for a second.

Your assertion that there ghosts are not the souls of dead people because the world would be infested with ghosts if they were is wrong. How do you know that the world isn't infested but we are only able to detect them under an extremely rare set of conditions?

My point is that you are asserting causes for and against something that you have zero evidence even exists. I'm someone who has seen paranormal things multiple times in my past when I was part of the local ghost hunting group, but I don't think the things I saw were anything other than psychological / biological phenomena in my brain.

If you've seen one, you're likely tripping balls, or have some imbalance in the brain causing you to hallucinate.

Exactly, I agree with you that most cases of "ghosts" are actually other events or rather phenomena affecting the area. This includes a psychological placebo effect.

Now, let's go biblical on this. Here is the contradiction:

Paul clearly makes statements which eliminates the possibility of any GHOSTS - 1st Thessalonians 4:13-18 and ACTS 2:29-34.

While the Old Testament says, Ghosts could be from previous living beings: (1st Samuel 28:3-15).

When Paul is speaking in the New Testament(1st Corinthians 11:25) it replaces the Old Testament as final say in the matters of death. Paul's word is an extension of a "Divine Command".

So, these verses contradict each other and even if we are to accept the New Testament then GHOSTS are not previously living beings.

Now, what is being witnessed by everyone are not GHOSTS but rather another phenomena. Possibly belonging in the previous categories described: ET cloaking, Government cloaking, etc.

Conclusions: The Bible contains errors and Ghosts do not exist but are actually misidentified phenomena.

But some are quick to blame it on the poor old innocent aliens under witness protection in area 51!
