If I'm doing the road trip by myself, it's gotta be an audio book. I devour those the same way I devour print and e-books.

Honestly, I don't think I listen to any music I feel is a guilty pleasure... I'm almost completely intolerant of crap music. I just realized I'm about to embark on a road trip with my sister who, while she has great taste in music for the most part, also has some crap taste. Oh gawds.

I hear you. But these are just guilty pleasures because they're all gospel or such like and we're on an atheist site. But, I agree, no shame.

Gillian Welch blows me away. She did a duet with Alison Krause in that movie "Oh Brother, .." that did so well. Someone my wife taught with has sung with both of them and with Linda Ronstadt and Emmylou Harris. She has a great voice too. I love lots of female vocalists.

A more current female singer who is a no guilt at all pleasure, is Jolie Holland. I think her voice is so unique, almost an instrument. I have a lot of her music and this one isn't a favorite but the quality is pretty good.

I roll with audiobooks as well. I am driving to Florida in two weeks. (Fantasy Football Draft Party!!!!) I've got some Michael Chabon and some E.O. Wilson on deck.
"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great

My wife is always listening to podcasts or her radio on our walks while I listen to my music. When she is working in her studio, she'd rather listen to talk than music too. During games and meals with me, I'm the DJ and she is always saying how happy she is with my choices. (Nice to be appreciated.)

Dan Deacon is almost unjustifyably weird at times, but I do have my DD moods.
