Paranoia in christians

Paranoia in christians
Disclaimer:
When I say christians, I am refering to the hardcore "I'm right your wrong" christians.
All the other christians, you rock!
Forcing religion on people is when a religion becomes intolerable.
End disclaimer
I still attend church, because I still need the help and support of my family. I also attend Bible study.
All in all, I go to church about three-four times a week.
One trend I've started noticing is that christians seem to largely be more Paranoid than other groups.
All the bible study I attend ever talks about is how the government is out to get christians, and how the whole world is conspiring against them.
My father, who is a pastor, often comments along these lines in daily conversation.
Two bible studies ago, an old man in the church leans over and wispers,
"Why has nobody tried to assassinate Obama yet?"
That's definitely the love of god, eh?
Anyway, I want to know if anyone else here has scene the Paranoia I mentioned among this particular group.

Hell if I can understand the fascination with "Christianity-lite".

Either take it whole hog, so to speak, or be honest and join the atheists.

vorlon13, sorry, I'm being slow as usual, but what do you mean and what is its relevance to the post?
Cheers

The OP made it clear he is not a "We're RIGHT, you're WRONG" kind of Christian.

I find it puzzling to aspire to a tepid, lukewarm, no fire in the belly kind of religion, denigrate those who in fact have, and revel in the insipidness of ones own ersatz, homogenized, pasteurized, bowdlerized, cleaned, sanitized and innocuous religious pap.

What IS the point ??

There is a difference between the fundie type of rock-throwing, hell-breathing, FUCK YOU, SINNER, type of xtian and the mealy-mouthed kind of Eddie Izzardish Church of England type.

But that involves only outward conduct. Because if axtian does not believe that he is 100% right then, as V13 suggests, he has no business calling himself a xtian. They all think they are right.

All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness

Weird, the atheists are helping the tepid Christers to hone their craft. We may need to establish some minimum criteria for the Christers allowed to post here.

I'm thinking Believing in the divinity of Christ might be a starting point, then add in a Literal belief that all Scripture is literally true and free of error. Might want to insist on their observing (pick one) 51%, 60%, 67%, 75% or 100% of Levitican edicts, laws, strictures, rules and commandments, and I think I would hold out for video of the candidates handling known poisonous serpents.

Let's get some REAL Christers here !!!

I am in a private on-line discussion group of fellow engineers, invitation-only, anonymous, set at 100. Originally for professional topics, it morphed into politics and religion before I got there. Except for me and three others, they are Right-Wing Evangelicals.
They are all convinced that the anti-Christ Democrat Obama is after them, their guns, and their churches. Their paranoia seems to reflect wingnut blogs, hate radio, the NRA, the GOP, Fundamentalist Bible interpretations, States Rights, White superiority, jingoism, and xenophobia, anti-Liberal and anti-Gay, jacked up on congenitally massive self-assurance. They make weird a religion.
They are not trailer trash. Average education is a Masters. You have to be very smart (if narrow) to do what we do. Yet they are off into a reactionary fantasyland impervious to facts and reason.
And they vote. Read C J Werleman's new "Crucifying America," and be reallyreally scared.

Haven't really spend much time with Muslims huh? I'm not talking about the luke warm brotherhood who have "sold out their faith their god and their countrymen who live in the west." I'm talking about the fly a plane into a building because the westerners will turn 'us' from 'our' god and corrupt our women and children, into thinking it is ok for them to let their faces be seen in public. While pointing to the once 'devoute' brother where live in the west that are now corrupt and are 'Muslim' by name only.
