So what it was like to go into an ancient ruin, I mean record store?
Luke: You don't believe in the Force, do you?

Han Solo: Kid, I've flown from one side of this galaxy to the other, and I've seen a lot of strange stuff, but I've never seen *anything* to make me believe that there's one all-powerful Force controlling everything. 'Cause no mystical energy field controls *my* destiny. It's all a lot of simple tricks and nonsense.

It felt utterly disheveled.
But if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, His Son, purifies us from all sin.

Oh, so you went just as it closed? Did you ever go into a record store when it was open and bustling? I remember our town used to have a Blockbuster, and I have fond memories of renting Roots there, and I still have a dozen Blockbuster gift cards that I never used and have a laugh about. Do you plan on watching your discs at all, or selling them all, or what?

I've been to quite a few records and movie stores, but never thought they were bustling even during the 1990s. I plan on watching them when I get through my digital backlog. Blockbuster always felt empty.

I'm just not picky about format. As long as the voices line up with the mouth movements then toss me a vhs and I won't complain.

Practically everything I watch is stored on my media server - most of it encoded to less than 1080p. I have 12 terabytes of primary storage and 10 terabytes of secondary storage. At 4K, I'd be shopping for more - but why?

What do you use to rip your discs? I use my MacBook Pro's internal DVD drive and HandBrake (working with VLC, which has the necessary libraries to break the DVD DRM).

The last time I ripped anything, I used Handbrake / VLC on PC. However, anymore, I crowd source my media ripping needs (cough... Bittorrent... cough), or I just buy DRM-free digital content. I refuse to buy DRM-encumbered music and such because I want to be free to use whatever platform I want to play them.

Thankfully, iTunes music (both bought and ripped from CDs) is completely DRM-free, and as I'm cautious of the law, I stay away from torrents and I buy legally all the time and/or rip my DVDs. I think that although DVD ripping is definitely not condoned, when you're just shifting it on the platform of your choice and not distributing it, it's legal in the same way CD ripping is. I would rip my Blu-rays, but I don't have the money for a drive and decent software for Mac, and if I didn't want them to look like shit the movies would be 50 GB in size on my 500 GB hard drive.
