Hey guys, me again. I know i haven't been posting in a while, but i don't think most of you knew i was gone. Anyway, I'd like some advice, you see, i was walking into school this morning, and i noticed a group of people my age were holding hands around the flag pole, with their heads bowed. I had no idea what they were doing, so i asked around. Apparently, they're part of some christian club at my school. Mind you, there are no other religious clubs in my school. Now, I don't really know what i should do. Should i investigate into the club? Should i try to start an atheist club? Any advice will be appreciated. Last note, it didn't seem as though any teachers were leading the prayer, so at least what i saw was legal.

I would leave the christian guys be. As for starting an atheist club, do it if you like. Don't do it to counter the christian club, it will feed into their persecution complex.
They can have a christian club if they like, surely. But yeah, start your own! If they don't let you, *then * you'd have a case
The fool hath said in his heart, There is a God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.
Psalm 14, KJV revised edition
You don't need to counter the christian club, but creating an atheist club is always a good idea. Go for it!
You can hold hands and sing the national anthem around the flag pole if you want, but whatever you do, don't do it just to spite or counter the christian club.
Sounds like the Christian Club has no JW members if they are congregating at the flagpole.
I'd start a pastafarian club - open to strippers, beer drinkers and pasta-eaters of all stripes.
Let no man or woman go without (linguine)!
Seriously, as long as any religion or non religion can form a club, there's no discrimination. If you want the company of other atheists, start and atheist club. Otherwise, it's not your problem.
If there is a god, I want to believe that there is a god. If there is not a god, I want to believe that there is no god.
Even if you do get enough members, what would you do in an atheist club?

Be ourselves without the religious BS. But all we do here is talk. That doesn't sound like my idea of a fun club - sitting around and just talking. A Christian club can atleast have some fun activities (for them) based on their religion. Also, most of us here usually talk only in response to resident theists. If all the theists here were to disappear tomorrow, conversation would be quite scarce. |
