Good luck Rob.
I've learnt an important life lesson here.

No one messed around with "your content." Just the fact that you refer to it that way confirms my suspicion that you were using a thread you created here as a legal pad to scribble your notes. You weren't trying to converse with anyone.
I remember we discussed a diary/blog section and mistakenly thought it existed. Staff discussed it and realized it could go in the "skepticism/pseudoscience" section, as, at the very least, it involved heavy skepticism on your part. It did not belong in the news section, as it was just your blog. I did not PUBLICLY announce the move. You did. I did publicly say it should be moved to a diary section because you were being a horrible ass about not responding, which you well know is not how a forum works.
Enjoy your break. You clearly need one.

Wow, Rob. You're one of my favorite posters. I understand if you need a break. I hope you come back soon.
I've only recently investigated the source of hostilities, and I must say: after three minutes of reading the thread, I realized two things: 1) I am completely uninterested in the subject matter and 2) You were kind of going on and on about it.
I think people wouldn't have been so bothered by it if they knew my super secret Kung Fu technique: If someone is going on and on about something I'm not interested in, I don't click the thread.
It took me a while to master this technique, but I had the best trainer one could ask for: the legendary Shaolin warrior, MysticKnight.

It probably was my fault for engaging. I was actually interested in the story, though, so I gave the videos a try. That's when I got aggravated. I wasted all that time and he didn't even actually want to talk about it.

I prefer to use Le Dodo Specialitié: If someone is going on and on about something I'm not interested in, I make em go poof.

I'd feel the same way in your shoes. But I think this news story is something Rob was working through. I suspect he found it interesting that he could get hooked by something like this. If there had been a diary/journal section, something I thought Jenny (?) started, it might have been the best place for it. But if I watched a bunch of long videos and then realized my interaction wasn't really of interest I'd be at least a little pissed. But from Rob's side he probably feels like he isn't being given much leeway to work through what obviously has him puzzled. Sometimes we just got to let people process things in their own way especially if you care about them.

But how do you know whether to click the thread or not unless you click on the thread? *poin!*

To me there was a serious whiff of conspiracy theory about it which just has no appeal to me at all so I never read it beyond looking to see if I knew the story already. I didn't. Tuning into all of the bad stuff that happens in the world just wears you down. This was one I could easily ignore.
