So now it's the poor horse's fault?
No, no, it's human excrement at it's foulest.

The "Holy Scriptures"/The OT, and what was learned under the direction of Paul is what is being refered to here.
However - what YOU point out is that the people who the christ would have been speaking to - would have ONLY known the Old Testament as scripture from their Childhood - and would have never even seen the New Testament.
And since those passages essentially say that the Old Testament is still in force - Explain how it could possible be alright to have IN SCRIPTURE - Directions on how to PROPERLY sell your daughter into slavery??
I guess your god would not want you to do it improperly!!!!

All scripture is god breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking and training in righteousness.
You see Christians throw this one out a lot and I can't help but wonder, what scripture was the anonymous author referring to? The bible or scripture as we know it didn't exist until at least 200 years after the epistle was written, and there was and a lot of different gospels and Christian sects around at the time that are now heretical. I have not studied this text in huge detail but I consider Timothy to be referring to the Old Testament books... the Jewish "scripture." He may have been adding the gospels into that, but... I'm pretty sure this refers to the Jewish canon of scripture.
It could be that "all scripture" was Timothy's way of including books that were disputed at the time - the books we refer to as the deuterocanon, which are included in Catholic but not Protestant Bibles.

Read Tim 3 ( the whole chapter) Paul tells us what he is talking about specifically.
