Has the pope gone mad?

RE: Has the pope gone mad?
I sent the Pope a tweet saying that there is no Catholic based evolution anymore than there is Allah based gravity or Thor based lightening.

I agree. Saying that the spaghetti monster feels gravity doesn't add any value to the world.

The day he demonstrates the basic human decency to expose and turn in the pedophiles that his organization is currently protecting, then maybe we can call him a good guy.

Basic business sense, FatAndFaithless. One doesn't have to destroy their organization to be a pretty alright fellow. Smile

You overvalue the power of the papacy.

Except that spaghetti is delicious, and it makes the world taste nicer.

No value to you, but how things feel make a lot of difference to most of the world FSM Grin

It was filtered out, and one of his secretaries is currently reading an important tweet from the 8th Bishop of Arborough regarding church policy.

Not when the organization itself is fundamentally not pretty alright, and the supposedly pretty alright fellow would neither distance himself from his not pretty alright organization, nor root out the not fundamentally alright parts.

I don't think he is dedicating all the power he has to the cause of intellectual honesty. Rather he seems to be dedicating a larger proportion to refreshing the sophistry being used to protect his not pretty alright organization.

Here is a more complete and accurate detail of what Francis said:

Quote:“When we read in Genesis the account of Creation, we risk imagining God as a magician, with a wand able to make everything. But it is not so,” the Bishop of Rome affirmed.

“He created beings and allowed them to develop according to the internal laws that he gave to each one, so that they were able to develop and to arrive and their fullness of being. He gave autonomy to the beings of the universe at the same time at which he assured them of his continuous presence, giving being to every reality. And so creation continued for centuries and centuries, millennia and millennia, until it became which we know today, precisely because God is not a demiurge or a magician, but the creator who gives being to all things.”
Pope Francis said that “the beginning of the world is not the work of chaos that owes its origin to another, but derives directly from a Supreme Principle who creates out of love.”

“The Big Bang, which nowadays is posited as the origin of the world, does not contradict the divine act of creating, but rather requires it. The evolution of nature does not contrast with the notion of creation, as evolution presupposes the creation of beings that evolve.”
“With regard to man, however, there is a change and something new.”

“When, on the sixth day of the account in Genesis, man is created, God gives the human being another autonomy, an autonomy that is different from that of nature, which is freedom,” Pope Francis said.
When God tells man “to name everything and to go ahead through history,” he stated, “this makes him responsible for creation, so that he might steward it in order to develop it until the end of time.”

The vatican has made it very clear that the Pope still considers homosexualtiy to be a disorder, still opposes gay marriage completely, and that the doctrine of what happens to gay people who die before being "fixed" through confession and their "salvation" is still the exact same.
Yes, it seems that some of the traditional opponents of Catholicism just want to believe that he's different, and spin his statements accordingly. In reality he says the same old, but maybe smiles more while he's saying it or something.
