But lets suppose he was born with a silver spoon in his mouth. What does that have to do with his(and mine) claim that disparity in income isn't a good indictator of disparity in consumption(I use standard or living but we are talking about the same thing).

Disparity in standard of living is a better indicator of disparity in standard of living than disparity in income as an indicator in disparity in standard of living.

You lefties latch on to one number that you think confirms your world view instead of just looking at the world and letting direct observation determine your world view.

Are we still ignoring that income inequality handily explains consumption inequality? As in "I can't afford a higher quality of living, if I could, I would have one, but I can't.....so I don't"? Why? Seems to me that if you were so fixated on the one the other would be integral to the position.

That is what is awesome about no minimum wage and universal basic income. If you have a "McJob" you can tell your boss to fuck off any time he treats you in a manner not commensurate with the wage he is paying you.

But I fail to see why we would continue with business as usual now, if the scenario were so drastically changed? What -is- your time worth? I think that you and the McManager would have trouble coming to terms on that one (as is) let alone if he knew you were a welfare queen drawing a fat check from the government teat at his franchise's expense via taxation.

A universal basic income protects people from starving. No minimum wage doesn't price any labor out of the market....want the cushy 9-5 schedule but your employer won't give it to you cause you're black....punish him by telling him you'd work it for 50 cents an hour less than his white friend.

In what way would a universal basic income protect people from starving that a minimum wage could not or does not? Food security would be a wonderful subject to have a lengthy discussion on but it's just not relevant because neither the minimum wage nor a universal basic actually provide food security (or, if you prefer to conceieve of them as having done so...provide it in a different way. From this angle. Both a universal basic and a minimum are precisely the same.

You know, the only difference I can see between a universal basic and a minimum is who is paying the bill. You think that the government should pay it? With what, might I ask? From whom...put more bluntly?

Minimum wage allows him to discriminate without consequence. If a black employee costs as much as a white employee....he has no incentive to hire black employees if he doesn't like them. He can always find an excuse to hire the white one or treat the white ones better.

And, bigots aren't bigots based upon whether or not we have a universal basic or a minimum wage. In what way is either even remotely connected to this?

The minimum wage stops his competitor from punishing his discrimination by hiring the cheaper labor and then being able to undercut him on price.

If someone wants to "punish" someone for their moral midgetry I'm fairly certain that running a McDonalds more efficiently than your bigoted competitor isn't going to be the best tool in the box for the job at hand. Making a single tax rate apply to everybody, regardless of income, is like asking every student from kindergarten to post-doctoral pass the same college-level exam in order to move to the next grade.
