And then there's Islam... how the hell are we going to get millions of people to stop killing, torturing, abusing and enslaving other humans in the 21st century of our Lor.....ffs in the 201 thousandth century of evolution?

Does the UN need to start creating a new document/convention of peace?

For example, is Islam peaceful...? that's the wrong question.... it can be both...

People want there own bit of the world. You should see how the scots are belly aching at the moment.

They eat Scottish food - belly aches are a national pastime.

Unless some major changes occur in our genetics I doubt peace is really achievable. But things are getting progressively better every year so I do feel good about the direction we're going in.

There is no such thing as world peace unless you throw out radical religions or just religion in general.

The main issue as I see it is that supply in all things is finite but demand is unlimited (theoretically). So we need to even the curves.

Surely that's solvable in the future with a small nuclear engine which could power a car for a year on a cup of water.. no more oil needed.

Hmm, no I don't think so. There is no resource that could satisfy infinite demand.

Water, for example, is finite. There's billions of people out there suffering from water deprivation right now. Even in the US, the world's richest economy, water reserves in many states are falling year on year. But then consider that demand for water is rising day by day, hour by hour, minute by minute. Simple logic implies that as supply decreases against a demand that is held constant (or indeed increases) something has to give.

Our ability to live together peacefully has been gradually increasing in terms of percentage of lives spent on war. The per capita body count is way down.

The limited ressources will take care of this. When we're down to the last drops of oil and the last packages of natural gas, the carnage will start for real.
