The "Ahem" got my attention.

How can any one team be favored?

Aren't they all the same?
There are lots of franchises out there.
How do you know which one is for you?

You must not follow sports to not know about the Pittsburgh/Cleveland rivalry (if you can call it a rivalry anymore).

Now you're getting into the real religious parallels. My family have been Browns' backers for generations. I was born into it and indoctrinated, in a sense. For me it's to do with tradition and personal fond memories, as well as a love for my area NE Ohio. But, there's no real criteria for picking a team to root for, unless you were born in NE Ohio, live here your whole life, and root for the Steelers. Thats wrong. I'll see those people in Hell. RE: Get rid of sports
Well, I'm glad you asked, prof.

I have this book. Inside this book there are all these stories about this guy, we'll call him the creator. His name was Art Rooney. He created a team, the Pittsburgh Pirates, a group of men that would set the stage for the greatest franchise in football history, the Pittsburgh Steelers. In the early days, he was a vengeful creator. Like the blue collar steel town of Pittsburgh, he hired men like Chuck Noll, who drafted "Mean" Joe Greene, Mel Blount, and Jack Lambert. These were nasty men. New rules were created to limit their success. They won 4 Super Bowls in six years.

Later, the creator sent his son, Dan Rooney, to continue his legacy. Except for in the newer age, things were a little different. There was Big Ben, Hines Ward, Jerome Bettis. Dan brought love and camaraderie to the locker room. Gone were the days of the vengeful Art. And he brought two more Super Bowls. The Steelers have won more Super Bowls, won more AFC championships, hosted more conference championships, and share the record for most Super Bowl appearances with the fallen angels, the Dallas Cowboys.

Objectively, the Steelers are the one true Franchise.

Peace be upon him.

Huh-uh
I can't remember where this verse is from, I think it got removed from canon:

"I don't hang around with mostly men because I'm gay. It's because men are better than women. Better trained, better equipped...better. Just better! I'm not gay."

For context, this is the previous verse:

"Hi Jesus" -robvalue

Hey, here's an idea: why don't you just let people enjoy the things they want to enjoy? If you have a problem with the tax dollars thing (funny the way you phrased that; as if the government has taken billions of dollars from you, personally), take it up with the government. Meanwhile, mind your own business. I'm not giving up football because some wanker on a forum doesn't like it. Boo hoo to you.

A person who doesn't even have a third grader's grasp of grammar shouldn't be calling anything stupid, first of all.

Second of all, what the hell do you think exercise is? If people want to spend their money going to a game, buying a jersey, buying a subscription or poster, (all of which is taxed) what business is it of yours?

Thirdly, you do not (making an educated guess here) pay billions of dollars in taxes. If your point is that we should teach everyone that competition is bad, and that striving to be so good at a particular competition that people are willing to pay you for it is a bad thing, then good luck with that.

4Watching, in my mind, a courageous bunch of soccer players in the NCAA women's tourney as we speak. Seattle 0-0 South Carolina.

Sports is no waste. It's a good part of our culture. There are options besides resigning oneself to obesity full stop.

Thank you Xian and Steel curtain,
Your responses were really neat.
Well written, showing enthusiasm for what you like.

I am an outsider, don't have a competitive bone in me,
I see football as a strategic game.
Sports also gives players a sense of accomplishment which is cool.

My son Jeremy is a Bills fan (they sure won't be playing Sunday due to the Snowmageddon we have been in)
so the TV is usually on here when they are playing.
Only issue I have is let those who benefit from the stadiums pay for them,
but since I consider we are nearly out of time- it no longer matters.
