Deal for Daystar.

RE: Deal for Daystar.
To be honest, I'd rather he didn't teach us all about the bible and his interpretation of it anymore than he would want me to teach him about the true meaning of the h2g2!

The trouble with someone like Daystar (no offence) is that he is so convinced that he is right it's pointless trying to have any form of meaningful discussion with him as he won't concede a single point. Or at least, that's certainly the impression one gets.

I'd far rather have discussions with someone like CoxRox who deals with her beliefs in a rational and open minded way. Someone whos point of view you can understand and who understands yours.

I must admit, despite a certain superficial impression of intelligence and open-mindedness that's the impression I get .

Well of course! I'm not speaking for all of us here! I'm just saying I'd be interested to know more about him, and really, how he twists the metaphors to suit himself, whether intentionally or unknowingly. And when its deliberate and when its not.
You see I have a general idea of how fundamentalists or 'strong' gnostic theists behave. But I've never got to really know one much, thats why I myself am interested. So I'm fine with him occasionally thinking he is 'teaching' me on these forums about what I think is bullshit, I think its quite interesting.
Because the thing is I've only really ever known 2 theists. And it was on the internet.
It was these 2 muslim RTS gamers that I used to game with and that I knew for a few years. We used to occasionally talk about their theism and my atheism. But once we really started talking more about it, they wouldn't really go into more detail and it got boring. It was just the same thing over and over again. And I got bored and realized we couldn't really get along anymore. And that was the end of that.
So I'm quite interested in knowing what Daystar believes. But I certainly don't think he should go around projecting what he thinks is "truth" on us all. If he wants to talk about it, at least I am happy to discuss with him about it.
BUT! I don't want him proclaiming it as "truth" I want him to just discuss with me about it like a civilized adult. If he is willing to do that.

There's that and then there's also this thing called living in your home with non-theists and using the internet ONLY to game for several years (basically until now) so never really knowing anyone's religious beliefs.
And when I went out it was mostly shopping/wargaming occasionally/martiral arts. Wasn't much religious there either.
This was in norwich, I never remember seeing anyone religious in the city. I HAVE seen some here, but I still rarely see any.

He's gone! It's probably for the best as he doesn't understand that just because something is true for you, doesn't mean others will see 'this' truth. I wouldn't dream of quoting scriptures to back up any argument I may wish to present as it would be pointless, considering the general concensus here is that the bible is not a divinely inspired holy book rather a story book. Hence anything it has to say is not worth much if you don't believe in god in the first place. It would have been nice to have got chatting to him about this. Nevermind.

Yeah, either he thinks he won [but he didn't] so left. Or he got scared and retreated!
