Obesity: five facts

RE: Obesity: five facts
Her example is not isolated. David Elmore Smith the 650 lbs virgin, took him just two years to regain 300lbs, again that's 15 years of weight gain regained much more quickly than it was put on the first time.

It's what happens to all obese people: their hormones change in a direction that cause them to regain the weight. That's what the experts say.

Did you even bother to watch this short video?

The WIN/Gallup End of Year Survey 2013 found the US was perceived to be the greatest threat to world peace by a huge margin, with 24% of respondents fearful of the US followed by: 8% for Pakistan, and 6% for China. This was followed by 5% each for: Afghanistan, Iran, Israel, North Korea. -LINK

RE: Obesity: five facts
I had a look at the video, I don't think it really says much, except maybe for the sever obesity. I don't like the word diet, when people go on these fast fix diets, of course their body is going to think its going through a famine, so when they go of the diet the body feels hungry because it is trying to get as much food and fat reservoir while its there, so hence the obesity.

If we are born with gens that are making us fat, we need to realize this and not eat so much, it maybe hard but we have to fight against the hunger we have all the time, maybe there are drugs that take away the feeling of being hungry. I feel that some are trying to make obesity into a disease so as to make money from them, just as they make millions out of people with high cholesterol, instead of helping them to understand why their cholesterol is high they shove them onto medication for the rest of their life, and also with hypertension, drugs again, there are billions of dollars made from just these two examples.

RE: Obesity: five facts
"There is now overwhelming evidence that obesity has a very strong genetic basis, in addition we now know body weight is very vigorously defended by the brain. In that following weight loss the hormones that control hunger (that circulate in our blood) change in a direction to make people more hungry. And hence making it very difficult to maintain weight loss." - Joe Proietto.

Both he and his counterpart Leslie Campbell agree that non-medical intervention cannot reverse obesity. They are both experts, they represent two different opposing opinions on the causes and consequences of obesity, and yet they agree on the basic facts that a. it is not a person's fault if they become obese it's physiological, and b. non-medical intervention doesn't work to reverse obesity. End of story.

You can't decide to "not eat so much" - that advice doesn't work. The hunger hormones, ghrelin and leptin biochemically dictate to you how much you will eat each day. You have to avoid high-risk foods entirely if you expect to prevent obesity. It's not a matter of eating them a little bit, it's a case of not consuming them at all - or if you do only on special occasions. It does not work to "try and eat" in moderation.

RE: Obesity: five facts
There maybe truth in that, but still the person with the hungry gene, must do something to stop getting overweight, maybe eat more foods that don't put so much weight in, so taking care of the cravings, I know its not that simple, but they must do something. If we continue telling people that they can't help it, and its not their fault, it will only make the situation worse, don't forget its only a small number that have the so called gen, so does that mean the rest are just gluttons ?.

No... I don't. You could mean "generation" or a slang word for information, or "genus"... or "gene". That's why grammar and spelling exist: to communicate what one is actually trying to say.
