Lek education tends to turn people into better human beings unlike religion.
If one thing that history has taught us many people will do horrible things for god. The crusades and inquisitions weren't needed many people died. Also Hitler was a devout catholic thinking he was doing gods working killing the jews. The point being is, before the invention of religion humanity was relatively peaceful then when religion came around that all changed. Religion works only because it looks for conflict and start wars over it. When this happens people look for guidance and hope, money and donations come into the picture. Religion causing the issues comes out to say see look the world is a bad place its horrible. In actuality that caused the problem but won't own up to it.
