I'm not a missionary going around to tell everyone about how great it would be to have no religion at all.

Nor do I. I'm simply sick of listening to a bunch of fucking idiots rattle on about their silly fairy tales.

Religion didn't create evil or the power divide, rather it was our own greed and the need for power which led to the formation of religions. Religion is just a tool to suppress and control.

Religion evolved because of lack of knowledge. People virtually kned nothing about the world surrounding them and filled the gaps by creating gods. Organised religion came at a much later stage and it's then when your above statement begins to apply.

Also I repeat what I said above. Imagine a world void of religion. People would just form other ideologies because many of them simply need a like minded group to feel comfortable. And many need to feel special in one way or the other. Noone can say, what would fill the void, once religion is gone. But chances are, given human nature, that it wouldn't be something good either.
