Ignosticism

RE: Ignosticism
I think ignosticism justifies gnosticism - If I can't define what is a god, then I know it doesn't exist since it's not even defined - Something that is undefined cannot be considered to exist.
Whoever fights monsters should see to it that in the process he does not become a monster. And if you gaze long enough into an abyss, the abyss will gaze back into you

Any definitions I've ever heard are at best unfalsifiable and at worst incoherent. I think ignostic covers my position quite nicely. What you guys reckon? Here's a link for more info:

Ignosticism is one of the reasons I claim agnosticism rather than agnostic atheism.

RE: Ignosticism
Well I'm still gonna get the t-shirt. It's the coolest type of atheism :p It's true atheism. I have reached a new state of non-belief, where I can slice claims in two with finger-beams. I no longer need to even think about it. I sit on my throne, in the dark, and deny everything. I will win in the end!

What was I saying?

Is this very different from agnostic?

The difference is mild. Agnosticism says it doesn't know. Ignosticism says mental effort is pointless. So agnosticism can entertain a proof of a God concept while ignosticism won't entrain the idea until the definition is falsifiable.

Could one say - a bit like agnosticism with an extra helping of Occam's razor?
The fool hath said in his heart, There is a God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.

Agnosticism: "I don't know"

Ignosticism: "I don't know what the fuck you're talking about"

Yeah, it's not a label I'd go around using as people have enough trouble even knowing what atheism is. I just thought it was interesting, and weird I'd not heard of it before.

RE: Ignosticism
Ignosticism is fun. And I think most atheists would rather dismiss theist arguments from the get-go.

But some times you just wanna punch stupid people in the face.

Lol Big Grin

It does address my own position well, because I have never ever got to the point where someone has made a falsifiable, coherent claim. So no debate can even begin, just story time. I'll let you know if someone manages to get as far as stage 2.
