Hi All,
Just a quick post to say hello.
I have been lurking for a couple of months and reading many fascinating threads every day.
I am lucky to have always been an atheist, although I have a vague Jewish heritage in my family, that is more cultural than religious in nature. My family are all atheists and humanists.
I grew up in England (South London) and went to University here for my BA and MA, Roman Archaeology being my passion. I am also a keen numismatist and a live sound engineer for fun.
I have lived in Romania, Bosnia (during the war), Canada (of which I am also a citizen) and Houston, Texas USA. I returned to England after years abroad.
I currently work as a care worker for young adults with Cerebral Palsy and other severe disabilities at a specialist centre in the South of England in beautiful countryside.
I take a keen interest in the sciences, although I am far from expert. I became interested in the creation/evolution "debate" from my involvement with the now defunct RDF and I am also a keen member of Rational Skepticism's forum too. Like here, they have many knowledgeable and entertaining posters.
I have a few of my own problems: I am bi-polar and I suffer from PTSD as a result of childhood abuse and war experiences, but I manage them both well using medications and the tools of Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, which I also teach informally.
As my username suggests, I am a huge fan of Jack Russell Terriers and of all dogs and most animals. I am a lifelong vegetarian, although I try not to shove my opinions about this down the throats of others, as I believe it is a hugely personal choice.
Politically I am pretty left leaning, but by no means extreme. I do work as a Union rep for some of my colleagues.
Anyway, I just wanted to say HI and hope to catch you around. I am happy to try and answer any questions anybody may have.
Cheers!
JackRussell
