I am just suggesting that if you live in the south, you are going to see and hear about Jesus nearly constantly. It is a fact of life. If someone is harassing you, by all means assert yourself. But the majority of conversations are innocuous at best, and if you're never going to see these people again, say "I am not religious" and let it go.
In the South? Religion is everywhere dude. I cant even watch MSNBC or CNN during a tragedy like a tornado or plane crash where the reporter doesn't mention prayer or a clip of someone thanking god.
Churches down here outnumber WalMarts and gas stations combined.
I have lived in FL, DC, New England, San Diego, and now TN (In the US).
I know religion is everywhere. But it is especially prevalent in the south. TN has the most megachurches per capita in the world. I also know that you can go a week or two without someone assuming you're Christian in DC or San Diego or New England. Not so in the south.
My point in "let it go" is simply that you are going to drive yourself crazy (in the Bible Belt) if you make every infringement of religion in your life a battle. It's not worth it. It's just not. You pick and choose. That was all I was saying.
"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great
