OK so I watched parts of this movie and I don't think there should be more then 1 topic about this movie so I just revived this one.
it is, of course, sad seeing grown people not just believing this stuff but how they are so damaged by religion that they really don't know how to think. So to hear this people trying to rationalize is like watching people with crippled legs trying to run - it's sad, it's revolting, kind of funny. Because this movie is all about trying to "rationalize" why Christians celebrate Christmas and we hear explanations like "Adam picked the forbidden fruit and since he could not return it back to the tree Jesus had to be crucified on the cross that is made of wood so that Jesus represents that fruit on the tree that could not be returned."
I guess many people do consider Jesus as a fruit
(image showing Jesus as gay as he is)
but still Cameron... You could say it's retarded, but I guess he tries to rationalize it while most other xtians don't know and don't care. Just go with the flow.
What is even Kirk Cameron christian denomination? For instance on his wiki page it states "evangelist" but that is not particular denomination, just preaching and it says "not be confused with Evangelicalism". Then later on it says "born-again Christian", but then it can be all sorts of things. My guess is that he has his own sort of made up Christianity, maybe Kirk Cameronism?
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

Jesus is a banana and Cameron's pal, Comfort, shoves him up his ass.

He has such a strange interpretation of things that KirkCameronism seems apt
The fool hath said in his heart, There is a God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.

It's warm fuzzy Jesusism, like that practiced by a great many Americans. Somewhere along the line we went from a nation of freedom-loving individuals to a horde of overweight Wal-Mart shoppers, no longer to be confused with an intelligent, literate society. Kirk is the Jesus of the new generation.

You know I thought this was going to be more serious movie about how Christmas has nothing to do with Jesus anymore (if it ever had). For instance there are numerous Christmas movies where you never see or hear Jesus, but according to Kirk Cameron everything you celebrate and worship on Christmas can be connected to Bible and Jesus. Let's say you want to celebrate banana peel - fine it's Jesus, or you piss in a pan and fry it until it burns and smells - fine it's Jesus because everything is Jesus on Xmass.

You must be quite the masochist to sit through any of that movie. I can't say I could stomach more than thirty seconds.

I would expect a movie like this to be bad, but I'm impressed that it got an award for being the worst movie. We all know stuff like this is just preaching to the choir, and it will likely be a commercial success because the demographic is quite large in this country. Why set the bar high, when the sheep will eat it up?

Don't admire me just yet because I didn't sit trough the movie, but rather clicked trough it watching overall maybe 20 mins. Considering that the movie is perpetual repetition and whole movie is set in a garaged car where Kirk Cameron and his brother in law are talking. Funny thing you mention stomach because I truly did feel sick in my belly and really felt like I'm going to vomit and when I stopped watching it miraculously stopped. I mean I never get sick in the stomach watching bad movies but this time it happened.
There really seems to be this subculture of religious people moviemakers that almost compete who's going to be bigger idiot. Like K. Cameron with his refusing being alone in a room with a woman other than his wife, refusing to do make out scenes with other women, firing people because he thinks are possessed by devil.
Or like his Chatolic counterpart, Jim Caviezel, who is doing the same things and is on higher level of Christianity considering how he brags around that he had to have heart surgery after being damaged by those crucifixion scenes in "Passion". Because to love Jesus is to suffer for him. Mel Gibson worships Caviezel's rubber crown of thorns in the church he built around it.
You know Jim Caviezel also believes that during making of "Passion" while he was in bed at night a devil came from the corner and put his hand deep down his throat and would have killed him if another hand, a stronger hand, didn't interrupt it and saved him and that is of course the hand of god.
If only someone made one of those "Brokeback Mountain" trailers but with Jim C. & Kirk C.

I recommend Eli Bosnick's reviews of religious movies on the Scathing Atheist podcast, including this one. They are pretty funny and you know what is going on without having to watch it.
