Arizona. We don't have lawns...we have rocks.

I suppose "Get off my rocks you damned kids!" might lead to misunderstandings.

That's more a Catholic excuse, by the sounds of it.

"I told the kids repeatedly to get off my rocks but they wouldn't listen!"

Retirement is wasted on you then. Come on, what do you really do with your time? Throw rocks at the kids?

Message boards take up some time. Then there are naps. Naps are a biggie. Then there is the dog rescue which is kind of slow right now. Oh, and playing with my own dogs.

Which at least shows, your heart is in one of the rightest places it can be.

I'm a freelance journalist and historian, which doesn't do much for a living. But at least it gives me enough time to sleep in on week days and play video games.

I'm Ben, and I help insanely rich bastards destroy the planet to get even richer.

Fortunately, I have a wife who will be graduating with an MBA with specializations in HR and Medical (she wants to be Cuddy). She'll be making more her first year that I am making after 20+ and that will allow me to focus on school to get out of my disgusting industry.

I'm an Engineer in real life, specializing in sensors and mechanical forensics. I work for a Brake company that makes OEM brakes for the cars and trucks you all drive. If you have a brake failure with one of our brakes, it will likely as not come to my desk. (But don't bring me any more work, I've got two faulty brake calipers coming tomorrow as it is ( one Ford one GM))

I used to enjoy working on things, but as I get older it seems more like too much to bother with.

I'm happily married with 4 girls in the house. Myself and my pee-bag dog are the only males in the house.

I'm Becca. I do a lot of volunteer work, including moderating AF, and I work for my mom's patient advocacy group part time. Lately, I've been trying to decide what to do to make some actual income (I haven't really "worked" in almost seven years, save the shop that I owned... I just didn't really consider that "work"), and I think I've landed on something, so I'm getting kind of excited.

I'm a writer, hoop dancer, traveler, daredevil, and beer snob. I devour books and documentaries. I love to gamble, although I've been taking a break from it a bit due to a year-long losing streak, and I'll jump into crafting just about anything except for knitting and crochet. I'm shit at those.

I love reading about all you guys!

You seem to have time for philosophy. Smile
Well, philosophy is fulfilling but it's certainly not as practical as having a law degree, nor does it help with handy work, which I despise though I wish I had an interest to learn (as I'm sure my girlfriend does as well), and you make fucking bad ass art!

I'm just a 27 year old in a one-bedroom apartment with two naughty cats, a great job (that doesn't pay enough), and an ambition to get a degree in philosophy, which I have no idea what I'll do with, and will probably take forever at the pace I'm going... But hell I'm not complaining. 0:-)

RE: Who are you, and what do you do?
Well, this has been awesome, learning more about you guys. My first reaction to this thread was, "Isn't that what intro threads are for?" Glad I peeked back in here.

My name is Mike. I'm 29 a,nd live in Middle Tennessee just south of Nashville. I studied Aeronautical Engineering in college. I wanted to be a pilot in the US Navy, but I fucked my body up pretty bad playing football in college, so I was medically disqualified from following that dream. I wanted to be a test pilot, and not being able to follow that path really killed my passion for Aeronautical Engineering. I was in the Navy for 5 awesome years in San Diego (where I missed out on meeting some wonderful people, it seems---Becca and Cory.)

I have focused on management and professional coaching since I got out of the Navy, but I do not enjoy that so much. So recently, I quit my job (I literally could not stand it one more minute) and I am going back to school to study programming and I am going to start a career.

I enjoy sports of almost all kinds, I am a hobby carpenter (one of these days I'll post some pics), I am a fitness nut (I do bodyweight Crossfit), and I love solving problems and fixing things. (Do you think I used enough parentheses?)
"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great
