Considering your English, not that far ahead it seems...

What's artsy bullshit?

Thanks, but I need a paper for that, though.

RE: Who are you, and what do you do?
When I joined this forum I was a PhD student and lecturer (dog's body) in political science at a British University.

I've since packed that in and now I'm a management accountant studying to become chartered (CIMA - leading to ACMA and hopefully, one day, GCMA).

Because, you know, everyone loves accountancy!

I also want to add that it's really interesting to see what people do on here. A few surprises, especially professor/Mike. Man I love that guy. Batshit insane, but in a loveable sorta way.

I'm Chas (or Charles) and I'm a software engineer with degrees in Math and Computer Science.
I try to keep current in the sciences, but who can keep up? Philosophically, I'm a pragmatist/materialist/naturalist/humanist.

I like cats and dogs. I do nature photography, collect/repair/trade watches, do shooting sports, hike and bike, play golf, and have a small apple orchard.
I like to cook and eat. I do dishes, laundry, ironing, and home improvements/repairs. I don't paint. I hate painting.
Skepticism is not a position; it is an approach to claims.
Science is not a subject, but a method.

Accountancy? That's boring and exceeding dull, what you want to be is a "Lion Tamer!"

You've obviously never encountered Pirate Accountants:

My name is Giles. I live in England and I'm 37. I work in construction as a floor layer/tiler and I like to walk my dog and look at the heavens with my 12" telescope in my spare time. That's when I'm not helping look after my disabled mother. I also volunteer at a care home for the elderly, where I help to take them out for the day (I like taking them to the pub best), drive the minibus etc..

I also spend a stupid amount of time arguing with theists on the net.

Edit: added my name and age and changed some smelling mistakes.

I shall call you Maester and forge you a golden link.
"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great

I'm Ben, 40, living in Norfolk, UK with my beautiful partner and 4 y/o son. I work as a business analyst, specialising in process engineering & project delivery for the financial services industry. I don't have much time to myself between work & family but when I do, I'm a bedroom DJ/producer of jungle music and hardcore house. I also love reading sci-fi, comics and gaming. I was once a suprano.

I don't believe in pseudonyms, some days it's difficult enough remembering who I actually am. Occasionally, I offer tea & biscuits to forum members.
