That's pretty much exactly the point I made (about Brian Williams) to the ultra-right-wing, FOXNews-watching, Obama-birther-scandal-believing super-fundy lady who hosts the movie night I go to once a month.

She didn't have a lot to say after I made this point.

Pretty hard to misremember Buenos Aires for the Falklands. Pretty hard to misremember a riot for combat. When you write, "I’ve reported on the ground in active war zones from El Salvador to the Falklands", that generally means that you have been to each of those places -- that is what "on the ground" means, more or less.

Buenos Aires is not in the Falklands, a riot is not combat, and if O'Reilly wants sympathy he can find it in the dictionary, between shit and syphilis. If your recollections are that broadly generalized, they're useless. You should probably be quiet.

It's also interesting to compare and contrast Brian Williams' actions when it's demonstrated that he got his story wrong with how O'Reilly handles himself:

Brian Williams is shown footage that it wasn't his helicopter shot down. He says "Wow, I was really wrong!" and apologizes.

O'Reilly knuckles under and insists that no matter what evidence you could possibly show him that he's misremembering or misreporting, HIS memory is what REALLY happened!!!!!1!!1 <-- His statements also include the '1's instead of exclamation points and he makes a face like this the whole time:
