Psi: How Open Minded are You Really?

RE: Psi: How Open Minded are You Really?
"Open-minded" is not a synonym for "accepting anything that sounds good with flowery language and pseudoscience". It's the same shit we hear from the 9/11 Truthers, Bigfooters, anti-vaxxers, alien abductees, chemtrailers, and homeopathy pushers. "Just open your mind, man, look at the latest evidence of <insert bullshittery here>."

There's a reason why we have standards of evidence, and accepting something before it has met those standards is not being 'open-mined', it's being naive or willfully ignorant.

Did I? I also paid attention to my reactions to monitor how critical I was.

For the rest of you, the summary is on the you tube page, so there is no sense in my repeating it. If your too lazy to read it there then I cannot help you. Yes it is a long video. It is what it is. It's not a rant by some unknown, but rather a more comprehensive overview of the research. I find it telling when people first go to skeptical responses about Radin and based on those decide not to at least skim the video.

I find myself in complete agreement with you, for once. There -isn't- any sense in you participating in or advancing a discussion which you yourself initiated. Particularly when there's the alternative of calling people close minded or lazy.

The title of the thread is "Psi: How open minded are you really?" Before you've even begun word one of your OP, you've engaged in a bit of priming, placing acceptance of what you put in your OP as open minded, and rejection of it as close minded. That's why I ask: I'm happy to have a discussion about the relative merits of what you've got here, but I need to know beforehand whether an actual discussion is even on offer. If it's impossible for someone to disagree without garnering the title of close minded, or being told that psi is just "obvious," then it's a waste of time even beginning, here. So far, you've seemed to take criticism at all as a sign of close mindedness rather than engagement with the topic in a way you don't immediately agree with, and that's precisely what I fear will happen if I watch the video and come away with a different opinion.

It's not really provocative or anything to do with that. That's not what Esq is even asking.

I love this approach. Plop an hour and a half video down and call anyone lazy that doesn't investigate just exactly what it is you're trying to say.
