I wasn't familiar with her, amazing. Is there a story behind why she plays standing up?

There must be but I don't know what it is.

According to a NEw York Times article I found:

Quote:Both instruments can be placed on her ornate riser -- with blue wheels -- also constructed to her specifications. Ms. Comparone feels freer when she plays standing up, which she says is her own innovation. ''I want to stand like the rest of the group,'' she said. ''It projects better, and people see. I can move more and have better access to the keyboard. I'm from the rock-and-roll generation; keyboard players stand. Why shouldn't I be seen?''

Meh.  If she wants to stand that's fine.  I just saw a performance of Guilmant's Organ Symphony and they set the organ up so that the organist's back was to the audience so we could all see his astounding footwork on the pedals.  At one point he did a cadenza just on the pedals (Look, Ma.  No Hands!) .  Showing off, of course, but he brought the house down.

I can't help but feel that the standing harpsichord mount is detrimental to precision. Do you see the instrument sway in the picture towards the end? She near-misses a few notes and my suspicion is that she wouldn't have if she were sitting and the instrument were fixated more firmly in front of her.

Maybe she just needs a more solid stand for her instrument.

I think it is a gimmick, but I have no problem with someone standing per se.

Looking again, some of it might be camera movement...

I've had a closer look at the art of fugue these days, doing a bit of sing along and looking at the score. Great fun for the whole family, following all those voices.
People have always been arguing whether it's just a dry textbook in music form, but it's so much fun to listen to for me that I would contest that
