Aldous Huxley's Brave New World.
A classic, I know.... a classic I had never read, like many other classics...
I'll get there.
Now reading my first ever Shakespeare... Othello..  I have no idea if I started with a goodie or a toughie... oh well... Wink

I actually read that a couple of years back for the first time, on a classics binge.  It wasn't at all what I thought it would be.

I was just rereading some old sci-fi.  Do androids Dream of Electric Sheep? and Childhoods End. Dicks stuff is so gritty and dirty compared to Clarke. Interesting to read their visions of the future back to back

I'm reading Sapiens - a Brief History of Humankind by Yuval Harari. It's a brilliant book, as good as Guns, Germs, and Steel by Jared Diamond. Five stars each. Clap

Also reading Carl Hiaasen's Bad Monkey, which is a great and entertaining read as well. Not Hiaasen's very best, but easily 4 stars.

Finished the "Razorland" trilogy (audio) by Anne Aguirre today. Not particularly good, not particularly bad. Rather predictable teen post-apocalyptica. Undecided

"Those Above" (ebook) by Daniel Polansky on the other hand has been unfolding quite nicely. Smile Almost makes me wish I was commuting by mass transit again. More time to revel in the world he's creating.

I'm not a big reader, but I found A Catcher in the Rye on a PDF off of some Ukrainian site, so, just for the heck of it, I'm starting that up. Yes, it was from high school, but good things are worth repeating.

If you want an amazing and novel adventure story that reaches way back into the underground origins of mankind, read The Descent series.

The movie is absolutely incomparable. Although a good enough horror movie in it's own right, it's like a paper boat in a puddle compared to the saga of the Titanic. The books send multiple teams from all nations for months at a time exploring tunnels and cities made by the Hadals in the crust under the ocean plates....and they are far more savvy in guerrilla warfare.

Highly recommended!

I have been thinking through the ideas of GWF Hegel and Alfred North Whitehead, very interesting.

Finished "Those Above" the other night." Don't read this one unless you have "Those Below" on deck and ready to go. Major cliffhanger ending!

Will be finishing "Those Above" today or tomorrow. Damn the lack of time for reading!

These two books have been a phenomenal read.

Oops... Meant to say "Those Below." I've already finished "Those Above."

Also about to finish the sixth of the "Foreigner" series by C.J. Cherryh (audio books). This series is 17 books and counting and I've fallen four books behind with a new one due out next spring. They're basically political thrillers in a sci-fi setting, but damn they're good ones. I'll have to make sure they get on my phone as well as my e-book. I don't read on my phone much, but it's with me wherever I go so if I have unexpected down time while I'm out and about I can knock out a page or two, or a chapter or two, depending...

If you like sci-fi and political thrillers, give these books a shot. Cherryh is a phenomenal writer.
