Wierd browser interaction?

I can log in on one browser (I had never used it before the shutdown) but not on Firefox or Chrome (which I have used for AF before). On those browsers, it tells me the forum is still down, which it isn't.
I get:
This bulletin board is currently closed. The Administrator has specified the reason as to why below.

My PC did that all night last night. I rebooted, cleared cache, and finally this morning had it back. I have Comcast wifi, I guess it held on to it for awhile?

Did you try Win+R and "ipconfig /flushdns" because windows likes to hang on to DNS info. I'm also assuming you're using Windows...

That sucks. Mine was out most of yesterday. It would come back until I navigated to a page that I'd been to before, then take me right back.
Are you using chrome?
try chrome://net-internals/#dns
My way out was to do this dance:
1) Right click on the page icon just to the left of the address in the address bar, and delete all the cookies for AF.org
2) Close all of the tabs except for the Net Internals tab, then dump the DNS cache.
3) Delete the cache/browsing history from Chrome Settings.
4) Close Chrome, CTRL+ALT+DEL and get rid of the background instances of Chrome as well.
5) Win+R, ipconfig /flushdns.
6) Restart computer.
No idea if all of that is necessary, but it worked finally for me. After I did all that, it hasn't gone back to the old site.
My phone, on the other hand, does not have any of these options. I don't know how to clear Chrome Mobile's DNS cache.

I don't have a solution but I do have an observation:
Applications / OS that cache DNS records beyond the record's TTL are pure evil.
