Enjoying the ride is all you can do, and it gets tougher once the ride is no longer enjoyable. I think a certain amount of crabbiness and pessimism are inevitable with getting old, yet the art at this stage of life is not letting it show too much. A challenge, because platitudes about counting your blessings, while helpful, aren't enough. But it's nice to think that the bus has a driver and that you have a passport for the land up yonder. If it's not so and the bus is heading over a cliff, then at least I won't know it 'til the last minute.
