The phone lines in my city are rubbish, because a lot of them have to go through sub-exchanges from the main exchange (like mine does), which adds like a kilometer on the length of the aging copper cables. That means I am nearly at the end of the lines from the main exchange.

One of the cheapest and lowest speeds virgin do, could easily do 100mb for a bit extra but I just don't download that much and don't have the HD space to keep it all if I did.

Considering I was told that my phone line could only support 8 mb/s this is pretty good. Seems fast enough for all the stuff I need to do...

While it doesn't seem that bad, i absolutely HATE this ISP... Sadly they're the only ones offering service out here.. Comcast pretty much sold us to them.. Been nothing but trouble since!

I have Clearwire. It's pretty inexpensive, and I think it's fast. I don't have to let streaming movies buffer, most of the time, and I don't do very much downloading/uploading. My modem is also connected to a router, which has 2 other computers, and a Wii hooked up to it, so that might have something to do with it. I don't know.

The reason I asked is because it lists the "server" for my ISP as Mexicali which is several hundred miles away. I'm just NW of Phoenix which makes me skeptical of their claims.
