It's Dying Out!

What matters are when these xtian shits use their churches as political platforms to put their barbaric superstitions into our laws.  Watching their power wither is the only thing that matters.

If someone wants to believe in the Flying Spaghetti Monster that's fine.  They are unlikely to insist that I put parmigiano on corn flakes.

Take a look at:

The Future of World Religions: Population Growth Projections, 2010-2050
Why Muslims Are Rising Fastest and the Unaffiliated Are Shrinking as a Share of the World’s Population

Why people with no religion are projected to decline as a share of the world’s population

Also, the vast majority of "religiously unaffiliated" do not identify as atheist or even as agnostic:

"However, a new survey by the Pew Research Center’s Forum on Religion & Public Life, conducted jointly with the PBS television program Religion & Ethics NewsWeekly, finds that many of the country’s 46 million unaffiliated adults are religious or spiritual in some way. Two-thirds of them say they believe in God (68%). More than half say they often feel a deep connection with nature and the earth (58%), while more than a third classify themselves as “spiritual” but not “religious” (37%), and one-in-five (21%) say they pray every day. In addition, most religiously unaffiliated Americans think that churches and other religious institutions benefit society by strengthening community bonds and aiding the poor."

You should know better than to be optimistic.

I'd like to highlight this from the second link you posted:

Quote:It bears repeating, however, that many factors could alter these trajectories. For example, if a large share of China’s population were to switch to Christianity (as discussed in this ), that shift alone could bolster Christianity’s current position as the world’s most populous religion. Or if disaffiliation were to become common in countries with large Muslim populations – as it is now in some countries with large Christian populations – that trend could slow or reverse the increase in Muslim numbers.
A fascinating possibility - The People's Republic of China is a self-declared socialist State and to some degree there is censorship and rejection of religion as a desirable lifestyle choice - There is some freedom of religion and five State sanctioned religions (Christian Protestantism, Christian Catholicism, Islam, Buddhism and of course Taoism) but it's one of the countries where the majority of people don't identify with any religion... If the trend did change due to a mix of various social circumstances it would greatly shift the odds were're betting in.

Yeah, we have this paradoxon here in Austria. 58 percent declare themselves as absolutely not religious, but 63 percent are members of the Catholic church. That's according to a pretty recent poll.

Being culturally Catholic is very popular in Europe. People sometimes go to church just to hear some jokes the priest tells and look for someone to invite on a date. It can be fun.

I'll eventually be too dead to care. I can only hope to weather this existence as best I can until then.

And now Pew Research confirms:

Quote:Christians Decline Sharply as Share of Population; Unaffiliated and Other Faiths Continue to Grow

Quote:While the drop in Christian affiliation is particularly pronounced among young adults, it is occurring among Americans of all ages. The same trends are seen among whites, blacks and Latinos; among both college graduates and adults with only a high school education; and among women as well as men.

Keep up the good work, kids!

Quote:The decline in Protestantism is just one of the changes to which Jones is alluding. Seniors are three times more likely than young Americans to claim a religious affiliation, for example. And white Christians are the minority in 19 states—a trend that will likely continue as more and more states slowly become majority minority.

I was surprised .  Arizona has 25% unaffiliated.  Maybe there is some hope for this sand box?

RE: It's Dying Out!
Surely a religious person is someone who follows a religion? Even if all those unaffiliateds are deists I wouldn't count them as religious
“The larger the group, the more toxic, the more of your beauty as an individual you have to surrender for the sake of group thought. And when you suspend your individual beauty you also give up a lot of your humanity. You will do things in the name of a group that you would never do on your own. Injuring, hurting, killing, drinking are all part of it, because you've lost your identity, because you now owe your allegiance to this thing that's bigger than you are and that controls you.”  - George Carlin

That does sound like very good news.  I have a fear though, if we are not careful to oppose the Dominionists aggressively, they could undo the gains achieved.

That would be a very big issue considering we have that type of idiotic president that thinks we are a christian nation were to put the bible as law we would all be fucked. The republicans would jizz themselves having that type of president voted. People would needlessly suffer and die over all the middle class would never exist and the gap between wealthy and poor would be drastic and overall the laws themselves would be unconstitutional.

More good news.  The kids are alright!

Quote:The least religious generation

Looking at 11.2 million US adolescents over the last 50 years, researchers find millennials are by far the least religious generation

Quote:Compared to the late 1970s, twice as many 12th graders and college students never attend religious services, and 75 percent more 12th graders say religion is "not important at all" in their lives. Compared to the early 1980s, twice as many high school seniors and three times as many college students in the 2010s answered "none" when asked their religion.

Fuck jesus...and allah...and the leeches who get rich peddling their holy horseshit.
