Ask A Historian
#11
RE: Ask A Historian
What should we make of Christian biblical scholars? Before they've said a word, they have most likely already decided that not only was there a historical Jesus, but he was magical too.

They literally can't come to the conclusion that in fact the case for even a historical Jesus is weak, can they? I'm not trying to be mean. I'm honestly asking what should be made of their opinion. Of course, if they are simply presenting proper evidence and sound arguments, then that works fine. And when Christians scholars are forced to concede something about the bible, you can be pretty sure it's legit! So I guess they are the final frontier.

I love Richard Carrier and I want to have his babies.

I see a low prior probability for that

Oh, I don't know about that.  It isn't usually that hard to break into a house, and it really is not that difficult to carry off someone's baby.  And given his claim to be polyamorous, he might have babies in more than one house from which one can choose.

I don't know how much an historian can answer this but do you think the IRA was motivated primarily by Catholicism or by a sense or by republicanism and rebellion against the UK monarchy/"imperialism"?
