Wrath of God

RE: Wrath of God
I'm still not sure what you are trying to say with this story. Even if it is true it all it means is that some man in a bar somewhere probably had a heart attack after downing a pint of beer.

Not exactly unique is it?

And: Martin Wells Knapp died in 1901.

It still fails to mention a date, if this was a documented case then there would be names anyway.
Haven't you heard "The names have been changed to protect the privacy" in some cases when accounts of events are given?

What I was trying to say was that if this was a true story it would be documented with real names in a newspaper or in the system of the people who investigated the death.

I have a question. Are you really as stupid as you are coming across?

As I recall you support the murder of Christians in another thread in posts #11 & 17.:

Remember that this is an atheist forum and so most of us are hard wired to be sceptic and curious. It takes more than an unsubstantiated story from the 19th century to make us question our philosophy...

That's all well and good, but there are no names in your story. They weren't changed, they were removed (or they never existed to begin with).

Secondly, your story says that "the event is remembered there yet with fear and dread". If it's remembered there, it must be told there, and so it must have been passed to some people, with the name of the town going with it. What is the point in removing the name of the town anyway?

So in short, yes, your story *might* be true, but without any names or references, we have no way to back it up. I mean, what if I told you a story that in an English village, two men were harassing the local muslims, saying Allah didn't exist, etc. The muslims told them that Allah would burn them in a lake of fire, and the men laughed out loud. The men went to the pub, and order "two lake of fires" please! They drink, toasting their mockery, and are struck down dead.

So, given this story, would you convert to Islam? No, of course you wouldn't, and we wouldn't convert to Christianity because of your story for the exact same reason.

Absolutely, Fuck 'em. Those people are a public nuisance.

As to the original question, do you believe everything you are told?

Next you'll claim to believe some dead jew came back to life after the Romans nailed him to a cross.

Talk about gullible!

It's funny to me that Gilligan is trying to prove the veracity of his faith with a fictional story that he himself can't even verify its veracity. Min I agree with you that some Christians suffer from that horrible disease of the brain called gullibility.

What is amazing, CP is that they have no capacity to see how absurd they appear.
