Lol, "psychology."

That's the only time you'll see that word wedged between sexuality and witchcraft.

How come it's so easy for them to question Darwin but not the fuckin bible?

Tell them origins of species is a holy book, maybe they'll listen

Well, the brain's motivations can be complicated, but essentially, it fights to prevent us from truly questioning things that conflict with the worldview it has built.  The brain has powerful defense mechanisms to prevent our psyches from having to go through too much of an overhaul.

"It's not God's fault there is death and suffering in the world, it's our fault because we sinned in Adam." ~ Ken Ham

The metaphysical gymnastics in that statement is staggering. Our fault because someone else sinned. Right.

The family with the paralysed kid were so infuriating/heartbreaking - "who knows? the lord might choose to be merciful, he may hear our cry and relent but if he doesn't no matter what happens i still believe that god wants what's best for his people"

He "might" be merciful, what a damning indictment
“The larger the group, the more toxic, the more of your beauty as an individual you have to surrender for the sake of group thought. And when you suspend your individual beauty you also give up a lot of your humanity. You will do things in the name of a group that you would never do on your own. Injuring, hurting, killing, drinking are all part of it, because you've lost your identity, because you now owe your allegiance to this thing that's bigger than you are and that controls you.”  - George Carlin

A literal reading of the bible is a complete waste of time. Unfortunately it seems to be the use it is put to most often. I guess an allegorical reading of the bible would be out of reach for the masses. Natural selection has failed the majority of the religious population in terms of providing them wit of gerbil, but has compensated by giving them the capacity to breed like rabbits.

What I always find strange when debating evolution with someone who discounts it and I present real world examples of it. They acknowledge that happens but still don't believe in evolution. So they are saying they believe in the definition of a word but not the word itself. I don't know how they say it with a staight face.

Evolution and genetics are completely incompatible with a literal interpretation of the bible.

No Adam and Eve...

So, the more scientifically-minded believer is forced to invent other "explanations" for critical concepts such as original sin. If there was no literal Adam and Eve, and our ape ancestors slowly evolved into modern humans, over a long period of time, with tens of thousands of individuals, at what point exactly did one of these proto-human thingy's eat the Apple and get all frisky with nekkid Eve?

God was looking down one day and said "hey!, what the hell!? HEY! STOP THAT YOU SINNING proto-human sexy ape chick! Put down the Fruit! I'm going fix your wagon girlie! And your boyfriend's wagon too! Hence force ye shall be dirty, foul SINNERS! And the T-Rex WILL NOT be a vegan any longer!" And so it was, but we have no idea when, how or to who. Or even why for that matter.

I've never heard an explanation that makes one whit of sense.

Watching this video makes me feel like the seemingly intemperate language some people use about religionists is fully justified.  The ignorance and stupidity displayed is staggering.  It is particularly striking the way such ignorance and stupidity is accompanied by such absolute certainty and ridiculous claims of knowledge.

I think, though, it may be a good thing that HBO has made this, as it may get some people to have a better understanding of what is going on.

Edited to add:

To those who feel the need for some further explanation of my first paragraph, think about that idiotic claim about 2 +2 possibly equalling 5, if it were in the Bible.  If you watched the video, you should not need further context for this.
