Well, that was intended more to be a description of what I would do than it was a suggestion. I tend to react to everything with sarcasm. You can try it if you want to, though. If your dad is intent on putting you down with a stereotype, why not point out its absurdity by having a bit of fun with it?
Even if the open windows of science at first make us shiver after the cozy indoor warmth of traditional humanizing myths, in the end the fresh air brings vigor, and the great spaces have a splendor of their own - Bertrand Russell

Haha good question. The reason is rather silly, though, so I might leave that one a mystery.
The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, and wiser people so full of doubts. -Bertrand Russell

Even if god did exist, he has yet to prove it, and our doubt is justified.

RE: My Deconversion Story
Once again, thanks everyone, you've all been very friendly. This week I'll be very busy with school, and then for two weeks I'll be at camp, so I won't be posting very much for a while. But after those three weeks, I'll hopefully be able to relax and post more often.

P.S. Not trying to "bump" my thread, just letting you all know so you won't think I gave up already. Smile

Welcome young lad.

It's so heartening to hear about young people who are smart and confident to enough to accept when their perceptions and realities change.

Fuckin' right, Noah/Phillip.

Hope you stick around.
"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great
