I'm sure this has been mentioned before, but it drives me absolutely crazy.

Why oh why does my phone INSIST on capitalizing "god"? I even set up and exception for it in my phone, yet it persists.

Very annoying.

Because that is the sense in which the vast majority of people use it, referring to the one God or exclamations like Oh God.

To describe god in a polytheistic sense isn't so common in everyday conversation.

the only one that really needs capitalization is Cthulu.
 The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.

It doesn't do it in 1st party apps such as text messages or emails. It only does it in places like the Tapatalk app, etc.

I'm really not sure why.
