You'd believe if you just opened your heart" is a terrible argument for religion. It's basically saying, "If you bias yourself enough, you can convince yourself that this is true." If religion were true, people wouldn't need faith to believe it -- it would be supported by good evidence.

Multiple choice is a good descriptor.  I'm not fond of cherry picking as a phrase, just because it's associated in parlance with individuals who put little effort into respecting ancient texts (of any origin).  It's all about context, as with any literature. Wink

hmmm, no - not half Christian. I do not believe that contemporary conservative Christians have a good understanding of early Christianity. I do my best to differentiate from my opinions and what is actually in the text of the bible, instead of imposing my opinions on them. I fail a lot. But I try a lot, too. Smile
