That's actually pretty fucking accurate.
For example,i have a picture of Jesus in my home and sometimes my sister look at it and tells me that Jesus is smiling back at her,and at other times she tells me that Jesus is looking angry/dissapointed etc.
At other times,when she is reading Bible,she interprets a particular passage how she wants to.Like after an exam she'd come home and read Bible and interpret whatever passage she is stuck with in such a way that it gives an answer to her that she already have.
Like if the exam was tough,she'd interpret the passage to tell her that the results would be bad.Then she thinks that God is communicating with her,when the only person communicating with her is she only.
It's her own emotions reflecting back at her.
