"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

Problem with the "evidence" is that so far it's all turned out to be fake.
Who knows, maybe there is a genuine piece of evidence somewhere under the mountain of BS but frankly I don't care anymore. The fakes however do lead me to question whether there was anything in the first place. I know the idea of questioning the evidence has been drummed out of you but it is disheartening to see see the same BS trotted out time after time after time. Do I think Jesus was a real person? It is perfectly plausible he did exist, though there is little legitimate evidence to support that fact. "Jesus" also could have been a common name back then for all I know (it certainly is in Mexico/Latin America today!) so there may have been hundreds or thousands of "Jesus'" around).
Do I think a man named Jesus brought about the ideals of Christianity? It was on-par with the timeframe in history for there to be "prophets" who convinced gullible people to follow them (much like cults today). Interestingly there were also "Johnites" around at that time (as in the gospel of John) along with many other groups of a similar nature that were either lost to time or absorbed into other groups. Seems Christianity is the one that took off. Again, little physical evidence, but enough anecdotal to make it probable. ![]() |
