You don't think it is possible to be malicious and/or have malicious intent via internet? (there is such thing as internet bullying. not saying this is what you're doing here, just pointing out that it is very much possible to harm others online)

Let's settle this a more simple way. When you made this post, did you think I would like it and think it was funny? If your honest answer is yes, then I will believe that, as far as your intentions go, you made this for no other reason than harmless fun.
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

While I don't like to see stuff on this forum that makes fun of Jesus, I don't let it feel like a personal insult, because it isn't. This post, on the other hand, was personal and directed at me specifically. It was directly making fun of me personally in regards to something very sacred to me. You guys know that.

You seem like a genuinely nice person CL.

Nonetheless, some of us are so firmly in the anti-religion camp we very much enjoy the slaughtering of sacred cows/Jesus/Mohamed at every turn. Religious "thought" has certainly earned it. (JHC looks askance at his shuffling feet at this juncture.)

Religion has played the "respect" card for far too long as a means to remove it from criticism. Dragging various icons into the light via parody/mockery seems to be working extremely effectively in these internet/social media times.

It fills the atheist-shaped hole in my heart with a-sustenance.

Ideas don't deserve to be sacred, otherwise we're heading straight towards totalitarianism.

This is simply not true.

All the other posts around here making fun of Christianity and Jesus are mocking my beliefs and not me.

This is directed at me personally, and the OP knows it. I made a thread called "Jesus <3" and I said "do you believe there was a man named Jesus..."

This thread is titled "Jesus <69" and starts with "do you believe there was a man named Jesus..."

This was 100% directed at me personally, and makes fun of what I wrote.

I'm very sorry if I caused you upset. I didn't see it as an attack. If I'd have thought you felt that way, I'd not have commented. I thought it was harmless fun.

So it's an obvious parody of your thread. Don't see what difference that makes. It's still your beliefs he's attacking. Your bad if you're that in love with jesus that you get offended on behalf of him and take it so personally.

No probs, Rob. I was disappointed when I saw your kudos because you are a friend, but you have apologized and explained yourself, and all is good. I am no longer upset.  Smile

My only objection here is to the claim that this was done without any sort of personal or malicious intent. That is all. (I don't care that it was, I just wish it would be owned up)

It was a "parody" (if you wanna call it that) to my words specifically. I already explained how I feel about the Jesus posts people put around here that have nothing to do with me personally.

It's truly comical that a Christian comes to an Atheist forum and gets offended. Now I really don't want to hurt your ego but there was nothing personal about this thread. Hell, I don't know you from Adam.

I think it's obvious to the folks that have been here a while that I fun around and am sarcastic in my style. You are not the first thread owner that I have done a parody on. Stick around and I'll probably do another one.

With all the shit that I have talked in this forum I believe you are the first to complain about it and actually take offense. I promise you though, I will continue to talk shit, be sarcastic, make fun of Jebus, and so on and so forth. It's nothing personal, it's just fun.

I am not offended that YOU made this post. I was offended that a friend kudosed it. Because he is my friend. I have explained this.

And I don't take it personal when you post mockery about Jesus. I take it personal when you make it personal by doing what you did with this thread. I have explained this also.

You have not answers the question. When you made this thread, did you think I would like it and think it was funny? If your honest answer is yes, then I will believe that, as far as your intentions go, you made this for no other reason than harmless fun.
