Love you too Neim, but I don't think it was in good fun.

Ya'll may be atheists, but you know very well that Jesus and our beliefs are things that are very sacred to us and close to our hearts. While I don't like to see stuff on this forum that makes fun of Jesus, I don't let it feel like a personal insult, because it isn't. This post, on the other hand, was personal and directed at me specifically. It was directly making fun of me personally in regards to something very sacred to me. You guys know that.

Like I said, not surprised or disappointed at the post itself because I have no ties with Kusa and don't consider him a friend, so I wouldn't expect him to not be so disrespectful to me. But to say this was done in "good fun" is a bit ridiculous. And since Rob has apologized, the only reason I am posting this is to simply object to the notion that it was harmless fun and had no mean intent whatsoever.

C_L, you're one of the very few theists who has come here who's attitude hasn't made me want to puke, but seriously, you need to grow some thicker skin. You're on an atheist site after all.

Let's see. Here at AF I've been called a bimbo, been compared to the KKK, been cussed at, and been told I am not a good person. Didn't let it bother me.

But when someone who is my friend does something that I think was out of line, I say something. Perhaps you did not understand that the part that upset me was the friend having kudosed something that was clearly meant to make fun of me. I don't care about the making fun, I care about my friendships here.

Please don't say I don't have thick skin.

Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

The truth is that I didn't even consider who made the thread that I did a parody on. Therefore I didn't even have a thought of whether you would like it or not. You were not even part of the equation.

In Bible speak when a man is getting his "feet" washed it refers to his genitals.  There is not one passage in the Bible about any woman getting her feet washed by anyone.    The washing method might have involved blow jobs.

This made me laugh because I had known that the discussion of feet had been a euphemism for genitalia but I had never carried the thought over into the NT with foot washing. That puts an entire new spin on things.  Spit Coffee

Let me make myself perfectly clear.

While I think this is in poor taste, and I obviously don't like it, the fact that Kusa made this post is not what bothered me on a personal level.

What I was disappointed by was one of my friends giving it kudos.

Rob has since explained himself and apologized. No harm no foul. All is well, and I love Rob. Case closed there, and done so very quickly.

The only reason I am still going on with this is because I think people are being dishonest in treating it like it's completely fine and nothing more than some good, light, clean fun. All hearts and flowers. I mean, really? This was done for the sole purpose of ridicule. At least own up to it!

Consider this scenario:

We're all in high school, and one day you purposely decide to go to school wearing a ridiculous, and provocative version of an outfit one of your class mates wore the day before. When confronted with the fact that you are making fun of your class mate, you say "Oh, I wasn't making fun of her! Just her clothes, you see? It's all in good light fun!"

Yeah... no.

And to answer your question, Igno (and I like you a lot too, btw), no. I don't expect people to change.

But if you do something like this to another person's post regarding something that is very sacred to them, own up to the fact that it's a little more harsh than some "good light fun." Don't be dishonest.

CL somehow I got tagged in this post. You know I think you're great and all but I'm not sure if the intent was to ridicule you. Your beliefs? Yes. You may feel you are being made fun of but it is not you, it is what you believe. Religious beliefs should not be beyond ridicule. For far too long they have been.

I think it's blatantly obvious that the OP is intended to ridicule. Please quote where someone has denied this. Your misapprehension is that it was made for the sole purpose of ridiculing you.

I'm gonna say this once more for reasons that even I don't understand.

THIS WAS NOT DIRECTED AT CL! Hell if it makes you feel better goddamnedit I think you are hot!

This is an Atheist forum and I have ever right to pick at religion and religious ideas here.

As a footnote, shame on Robvalue for finding humor in something that is funny. Shame on you.
