One Month Without Faith - Thank you.

RE: One Month Without Faith - Thank you.
That is fantastic Spacetime! I'm so happy for you Smile

I'm sorry you have found out that what you thought were friends were conditional upon delusions. I agree, find new friends who like you for who you are. You don't need judgemental butt holes dragging you down, nor do you have to explain yourself to them if you don't want.

I firmly believe most people would feel a lot better if they could escape religion. Sadly this often comes at a cost, such as worse treatment from those around you. But you can find new friends, and I think it is generally worth it. Religion does well at disguising social interaction as something spiritual. But it's just a club like any other. We must form more secular clubs and communities!

Long may your happiness continue! It's hilarious how Christians can dismiss the FSM as ridiculous, huh. He'll pastafy their face when they are dead, then who's the fool?

Yes.

(That was easy.)

Christianity is way more silly.

Way, way more!

It's a shame Randy can't be happy for someone who disagrees with him.

Well, begin with this question: Did Jesus Exist?

No. Begin with the question: Does Pasta Exist?
Well, does it?
I'm pretty sure there's way less controversy surrounding exi... oh, sorry - Existence(?) of pasta, then that of your fancy-pants Jebus.

And as it so happens - you have about as much proof of Jesus being a god, as I have of pasta being one.

Your move...

Here's a challenge: try and write down, very briefly, the story of the bible from start to finish.

Something like, "God created everything. A talking snake tricked a woman into eating forbidden fruit. God cursed all people that would ever be born. God ordered loads of massacres. God came down in human form to sacrifice himself to himself in order to allow himself to change a rule he had made about everyone being cursed."

Then compare it to this story: "The Flying Spaghetti Monster created the world 300 years ago. He planted evidence and memories to make it seem much older."

Now. Which is the more ridiculous and requires the greatest numbers of assumptions?

Pastafarianism also correlates exactly with all science. It just acknowledges the unreal nature of all evidence older than 300 years.

It gets easier as you go on, especially when you're in a space full of atheists like this one Wink

Premise one is granted. Therefore, the real issue is whether Christianity is just as silly and unfounded as Pastafarianism.

Is it?

Absolutely! Even sillier - what with the talking snake, talking donkey, virgin birth, mean-old sky wizards creating havoc and let us not forget Jewish Zombie Time! Yeah, that's a biggie on the silly and unfounded scale. Freakin' Jewish Zombie Time!

Quote:Well, begin with this question: Did Jesus Exist?

Do you mean in the human, stinky, hungry, horny kind of exist or in the Freakin' Jewish Zombie Time!! exist sense?

Possibly for the former (although the evidence is scant at best); laughably absurd, silly and unfounded for the latter.

I pray to the FSM for him to change your heart, perhaps with a nice bowl of linguine with Sicilian red pesto sauce (raw tomato, a bit less basil and almonds instead of pine nuts.)

Wow, just Wow! The first theist that I've seen with an open mind, actually questioning his/her faith. I am in shock. You're the first theist I'll Kudos for actually listening to someone on here, or for seriously questioning your faith. Even if you don't become an atheist, or if you fall back into religion, it doesn't matter, because you have actually CARED about seeking the truth, and didn't just blindly follow what has been customary or acceptable in your environment. Congratulations on having intelligence, and a skeptical mind!!!! Clap
