I would say it is worth investigating all-female environments to discover if there is a corresponding dynamic there,

You should take another look at the opening post. I posted this there, and it is from the study abstract:

Please note in particular the second sentence in that quote. So, no, it is not simply that they are targeting males and females equally based on the situation. They are treating males and females differently in the same situation. They are hostile to females and submissive to males in the same situation.
