I propose herewith that 'metric fuckton' be made an official, recognized unit of measurement.  The standard could be 'the amount of evidence in support of a proposition sufficient to make those who deny the proposition candidates for psychiatric treatment'.

Who do we contact to make this happen?

1.  Do you believe the person of Jesus Christ existed in history?  Why (whether yes or no)?

2.  Do you believe that George Washington was President of the United States?  Why (whether yes or no)?

I don't have the patience for this.  I'd prefer to concede that somebody or some group of historical people are the inspiration for at least some of the stories attributed to the Jesus character in the bible.

Naturally, Washington's having been a real historical person doesn't guarantee that the cherry tree chopping story.  Likewise any claims of miracles and divinity in reference to the Jesus guy(s) are not vouchsafed by their having been flesh and blood.

So I would really appreciate hearing what you think follows from Jesus and George being a couple of regular guys.  Jesus is historical.  So what?

If there is "evidence" you don't have to believe it.

Not sure, because nobody reliable wrote about him at the time of his life, or even a reasonable time after it.

Yes, I'm pretty sure, because very many people wrote about him during his life, including enemies.

What differences does it make whether he existed or not? That has no has no bearing on the claim that he is the son of a God and that he was resurrected.
