I have and always will be a Trekkie.
What is your favorite movies or episodes?
Don't take this wrong but how do you watch them being visually impaired?
I sit in front of the TV. Simple.
Sometimes I watch with someone if I haven't seen an episode before.

Wrath of Khan, like duh! Or perhaps the episode when Spock finally kisses Uhura!

BQ, you may be watching it for the same reason I can't watch "Enterprise".

They broke all the rules with that one.

I am very very well Potter-versed. I'm not sure I really "fanboy" over anything else... Hmm... I mean, I really like Star Wars and Dune, but I'm not into them to what I'd call a fanboyish level.
I'm actually in the process of reading LOTR for the first time. I just finished the second chapter of the second book, "The Council of Elrond."
Mmkay, I thought of something else: I'm fanboyish about sports and sports statistics: I drive all over the state to watch and write about high school football games, I run my own college football rankings, and I pay deep attention to baseball statistics. I'm currently researching Elo and other ratings systems because I've been asked to try to create a high school football ranking system.

Don't worry, my friend. If this be the end, then so shall it be.

Have subscribed to Potterwatch or Alohamora?

You know, I was on Pottermore, but have let that lapse. Not really fanboylike of me, eh? But, alas; I do still read the series at least twice a year or so, watch the movies, and the like.
I've never actually told anyone, but here's a good spot: as a freshman and sophomore in college, I was really depressed and starting to think suicidally. The thing that helped me most, or at least feels now like it helped me most, was that I constantly read the books. Like, one or two hundred pages a day, and when I got to the end I'd start again at the beginning. I read them maybe 8 or 9 times, and I think it really helped me, if only because they gave my brain something to do when I would otherwise be thinking bad thoughts. I have a really good memory as it is, so by the end I could quote fairly large passages and really got the lore down. What with being 18ish and reading them a bunch and feeling bad and then feeling better and growing up, the series is pretty deeply entangled with a whole lot of things going on in my head. So, Harry Potter, while not the perfect series, will always have a unique place in my heart.
