For our Catholic members: What are your feelings on this?

I grew up in a very Catholic part of Northern Ireland, and those who managed to obtain a divorce were pretty badly shunned.

Translation of the story = "Membership is down and we can't afford to push any paying members away."

How nice of him to so mercifully permit those sinful abused spouses to be forgiven after escaping a nightmare! What a progressive man!
Too little too fucking late Frankie. You're still several centuries behind.
So...he gets no credit for making some moves to end a cruel and inhumane custom of the Church?
Not all divorced people are victims of abuse, not all bad marriages are a 'nightmare.' And if you'll read the article a little more closely, you'll see that Francis isn't offering to 'forgive' anyone for divorce and remarriage. His tone is that these people have done nothing to be forgiven
for.
He's been Pope for two years. I find it pretty unfair to blame him for the abuses of the past. 'Too little too fucking late.' Really? His only options other than doing what he can with his nightmare of an organisation, a little at a time, are to 1) do nothing, in which you'd vilify him even more than you have, or 2) dismantle the Church overnight, which ain't gonna happen.

He didn't get to be a cardinal by being any less of a sleaze than any of the others. He's just got a talent for marketing. So has ISIS. So what?

He's barely changed anything. All he does is talk without actually taking any action. I'm afraid it's mostly marketing.

Tell me one religious person who isn't in sales?
It's not like there is an operations centre anywhere, is it?

What changed? Why was the church doing it wrong before, or conversely, why are they doing it wrong now?
Surely God can make it clear to them what He wants, if they are just making up shit as they go along, maybe they need to get fucking honest and ADMIT they are making up shit as they go along.
Mark 10:11 (etal) is clear enough, if the sheeple don't like it they can join any number of fucking protestant franchises where divorce and remarriage are goddamned sacraments.
Fuck the pope and his fucking divorce whoring.
The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.

The church is taking some steps in the right direction, and that is better than nothing, right?
