The Supreme Court also gave us Dred Scott. Let me ask you this. Do you believe there is anything that the Federal government cannot rightfully control or regulate?

The Federal government is not "controlling" or "regulating" same sex marriages. They are saying that the states cannot either. Are you really that dense or bigoted. What possible effect does same sex marriage have on your life that you have to be such a dick about it.
You make people miserable and there's nothing they can do about it, just like god.

If it were a violation of church and state, if they were imposing a belief over the state regulations/law, yes. They chose to place themselves in the situation. Hopefully they knew the consequences of their actions, one being potential jail time.

I see your point here, but it couldn't happen that way. Even if a court clerk issued illegal licenses, they would be meaningless pieces of paper. They would not give gay couples anything, no benefits, no legal standing as a married couple. Therefore, there would be no reason for anyone to risk anything for that cause. They can neither deny anyone nor grant anyone anything in that situation.
In order for the tables to truly be turned, Christians would have to be granted a right that everybody else had but them, (and we all know those don't exist) and an atheist clerk would have to deny them those rights. And in that case, yes, I would support jail time for a person who defied a court order to comply with the law.
"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great

In one scenario, you have a stupid fucking bitch refusing to comply with a law that grants people their rights. The stupid bitch was given EVERY opportunity to avoid jail time. She was told as long as she didn't interfere with her co-workers issuing the licenses, she wouldn't go to jail. But the stupid cunt said no. It's against her religious beliefs. So she gets to decide for the entire county that the supreme court is wrong, and she's not going to hand out marriage licenses. Apparently this is 'standing up for your beliefs' according to some. What it really is -- standing up for bigotry.
In the other scenario you have someone who is trying to disobey the law because it deprives someone of rights they may not have by law, but should fucking have anyway.
Civil Disobedience has it's time and place. This isn't one of them. The fucking cunt should be thrown in jail for refusing to comply with an order that gives other their rights, and doesn't interfere a fucking bit with her own rights.
No law was actually passed. SCOTUS rulings are NOT the law. The Constitution of the United Sates is the law. Instead what we have is 5 black robes finding a right to habitual sodomy in a document that says exactly nothing about marriage period. You're a hypocritical anti-Christian bigot who justifies tyranny in pursuit of your progressive utopia.
What the fuck do you care if two guys want to cornhole each other?!? You ass-clowns make it sound like allowing gay people to have the same fucking rights that you have will bring on the end of the world. Isn't the end of the world what you're all fucking waiting and hoping for anyway?!?
For fucks sake you christers act like the SCOTUS has taken something away from you. They haven't

The mayor of my college town defied the order, and there were consequences. The protests that happened as a result weren't because he was disciplined for it, but to make same-sex marriage legal.
Oh, and Kim Davis wasn't sent to jail for failing to sign marriage licenses, rather, for contempt of court.

(to those of you who think jail is excessive)
This is really quite simple, folks. She's an elected official. She's sworn an oath to uphold certain principles, and one of those principles is equality under the law (law who's specifics can be expected to change from time to time). She didn't swear an oath to uphold her own beliefs. The question was asked of the courts "must this woman do this thing" as part of her sworn duty, and the courts (all the way to the top) answered "yes, she must do this thing". She then thumbed her nose at the court order and the court should do what? Use harsh language?
Yeah, let's NOT send her to jail and send a clear message that it's OK for elected officials to engage in official misconduct and refuse to obey court orders. Those things are for the proles, of course.

That would be a bit like arresting Rosa Parks, though.
Rosa Parks was covered by the 14th Amendment. It was therefore criminal to discriminate against her.

The way I understood it, they would have just fined her and let her go if she had agreed to start issuing marriage licenses when she got back to work, but she said she'd go right back to refusing them. She legitimately left them no other option but to lock her ass up. She broke the law, was caught, and had to be punished by fines or jail, and this bitch pretty much chose jail. If that's where she wants to be, fuck it.
It is a little sad that most martyrs don't have the good decency to die any more. I don't think it should count as martyrdom unless we get to nail her up and set her on fire or something.
Verbatim from the mouth of Jesus (retranslated from a retranslation of a copy of a copy):
"Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you too will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. How can you see your brother's head up his ass when your own vision is darkened by your head being even further up your ass? How can you say to your brother, 'Get your head out of your ass,' when all the time your head is up your own ass? You hypocrite! First take your head out of your own ass, and then you will see clearly who has his head up his ass and who doesn't." Matthew 7:1-5 (also Luke 6: 41-42)
