The Atheist Obsession with Insulting Christians

For those of you who have made the effort, I certainly appreciate it! It shows you're here to actually talk to us as people as well and not just bang on our heads and try to convert us.  For those who never make this effort, it's really hard to develop any kind of relationship. I've noticed these tend to be the same people who rarely joke around and have fun on here. That also makes things really hard.

+1

I like C_L and kingpin because they're people with quirks and senses of humor and varied interests.  They're not apologist robots or shit and run artists or Huggy.

I know I could hang out with either of them IRL and talk about stuff not related to religion at all.  Like pooping.  And that's awesome.

We'd get along just fine, my friend. Smile
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

This has actually happened to me at work, and I hadn't shared my lack of belief with anyone.  I'm not interested in my co-workers religious beliefs and I don't care for them to know the details of my personal life. Apparently my lack of participation in the Jesus-jabber at work, caused a mildly astute          co-worker(bitch) to ask me if I was "religious" out of nowhere. With a smug, shit-eating smirk plastered on her face.

She was clearly attempting to to rattle me and cause embarrassment. Unfortunately for her, she was new and didn't know me. Suffice it say, by the end of this discussion she knew she'd fucked up and was swearing that she was just asking because she "exploring religion" and wanted some insight, and even went so far as to say that she was interested in atheism(lie).

I gently informed her that spiritual matters are best explored outside of the workplace, so we wouldn't be discussing my lack of belief any further...smug bitch-face included(mine). Since then, most of my religious co-workers essentially treat me the same as before, or at least do to my my face.

There is one co-worker who just stopped speaking to me completely, unless she is absolutely forced to. Then she responds with as few syllables as possible. Little does she know...I'm actually loving it.

Totally disgusting, and sorry you have people like that at work. It’s just lovely when people that have conversations with themselves in their heads, need the other person to be doing the same thing, to the same imaginary friend, to get along with them. Facepalm Something I’m fine with, however the point where it becomes tricky is if you’re living with one of those idiots, who just can’t keep it to themselves. You can get their asses in trouble at the workplace, if they don’t stfu up about it though.

If god created these people in his image, then god is an imbecile.

If the theists need to focus on the name calling, and if it makes them feel better to think we’re the unintelligent ones, so be it. Don’t care. And, Drich actually thinking that the last quote on the last paragraph of the OP is true, is a laugh. Go ahead, make fun of atheists all you want, our feelings won’t get so hurt, that we have to run away from the forums like 5 year olds. Practically all I see here is logical and sometimes witty/provocative comebacks, and the theists’ brains don’t want to grasp it. And, I’m not here to bully, but I agree with some of the stronger anti-theists on here, that if you think that you have a personal relationship with an invisible friend, then you really are a 5 year old.
Anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that 'my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge.' -Isaac Asimov-

I had this explained to me.  In African cultures/languages negatives don't function as a toggle.  More negatives just add emphasis.  It isn't a failure in logic, just a change of usage.

So antidisirregardless would mean absolutely without regard to .. to the nth degree.

Unlike here where we take the ir- as erasing the -less.

Interesting.

Can anyone explain the etymology of George W. Bush's use of the world,

"Misunderestimate" ?

I'd rather not. That way madness lies.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'
