If those are supposed to be the same picture, the bottom image is cropped on all sides and is less sharp (not to mention the different "water marks" in the upper left corner of the top one and the lower right corner of the bottom one).  What are we supposed to be noticing?

The BBC logo is gone and something else is in the opposite corner.

The BBC image is far crisper and cleaner than the ABC image. Much like all their programming.

They are both exactly the same frame in Doctor Who S09E01, top is iPlayer and bottom is iView.

Interesting none of you have noticed the Dalek eye ...

The Dalek eye was not the only difference, though.

No, but isn't it interesting that there's an incomplete effect? The iView file is 640x360 making it 1/4 the resolution of the BBC HD file at 1280x720.

ABC's audio is AAC 2.0 @ 96.0 Kbps, BBC is AAC 2.0 @ 93.5 Kbps.

The Pirate Bay: AC-3 5.1 @ 384 Kbps, not to mention no channel logo:

I said this last year: we get inferior quality shit. Yes the broadcast later today will be SD @ 720x576 and an improvement on the iView file, but that's still well short of the HD version delivered in the UK. Not only that, but as you can clearly see from the screenshot the effects are incomplete as well. Make no mistake it is the same frame and that entire shot has the glowing-eye effect in the BBC version which is missing in the ABC version:

This has always been my stance as an Australian media consumer: I will happily buy your blu-rays when they come out, but do not expect me to deal with lower quality free official broadcast versions of things when there are better quality options available, often earlier than your broadcast versions.

I want to make sure the producers of things I like get paid, but not at the price of settling for a less than complete version of that thing when it first comes out.
